Prayer for self-discipline for struggling, busy Mamas like me!
Hello Mamas, hope all is well! are you struggling in your self-discipline department? If you are, please know that you are not alone. I am with you Mamas!
As shameful as it is, but at my present age (40), I’m still struggling with self-discipline – a long time struggle, indeed!. 🙁
Prayer for Self-Discipline
To achieve self-discipline, we really need prayers because we can’t do it with our own power and own strength.
There are a lot of powerful prayers that we can use as a prayer for discipline, or we can also make our own specific prayer for discipline, or if we don’t have time to make our own prayer or very short in time, we can also pray the Lord’s prayer with self-discipline as the prayer intention.
If you don’t have one yet, here’s a prayer for us Mamas that we can recite in a short time to help us focus and stay on track. It’s short, so we can easily incorporate it into our daily prayers, because I know our schedules are always busy.
Thank you for this day. I pray that You send me the help of the Holy Spirit to guide me, so I can stay focus and on track no matter what challenges I face.
Help me to set goals, stick to my boundaries, stay focus on what’s important, and record my thoughts and prayers so that I can learn from my successes and failures. Amen.
The Importance of Self-Discipline
Discipline is key to success in any area of daily life and life, in general. While it may seem easy to stay focused when everything is good news, it’s often difficult to maintain that focus when things get tough. In my case, I struggle with self-discipline be it during the good and difficult times. 🙁
Self-discipline is the ability to control ourselves and our actions in the face of temptation. Without it, we would be helpless in the face of difficult situations or challenges.
There are many different forms of self-discipline, but they all have one common goal: to help us achieve our goals.
There are three main ways we can discipline ourselves: through our thoughts, through our actions, and through our emotions.
When it comes to self-discipline, thoughts are critically important. Our thoughts create our emotions, which in turn shape our actions. If we want to be successful, we need to learn how to control our thoughts.
Without self-discipline, we would not be able to achieve our goals or reach our full potential.
Even a successful prayer life needs self control, too.
How to Develop Self-Discipline
If we want to improve our self-discipline, there are a few things that we can do on regular basis:
1. Make a conscious effort to set goals and objectives. This will help us stay focused on what is important.
2. Set boundaries. Don’t allow ourselves to overindulge in activities that will prevent us from achieving our goals.
3. Keep a prayer journal in which to record our thoughts and prayers. This will help us reflect on our progress and learn from our mistakes.
How to Maintain Discipline
Hopefully, with our consistent prayers and with our will to really achieve it, we will finally achieve self-discipline.
And once we do, the next goal is to maintain it. Just like any other virtues, we need help from our Dear God and hard work from our part to achieve it, and the need to be consistent in doing the wonderful practices to be able to maintain it.
The Power of Prayer in Achieving Self-Discipline
Persistent prayer has a power that is unbelievable. It can change our lives, it can help us find our purpose in life, and it can help us connect with our Almighty God.
Prayer can also help us stay focused, can help us stay motivated and inspired, and it can help us stay on track both mentally and physically.
And just like any other areas of our lives, we need the power of prayer to battle the bad habits that hinder us from achieving self-discipline.
We can also take advantage from the power of intercessory prayer. So, let’s not hesitate to ask help from Our Blessed Mother and the Saints to pray for us.
Self-discipline In Our Prayer Life
We also need discipline of prayer in order to be successful in our prayer life that will lead us to a strong, healthy relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ..
However, being disciplined in our prayer life does not mean that we cannot have fun while praying and experiencing spiritual growth! We can enjoy the spiritual Here are some practical suggestions we need to take in order to develop a disciplined prayer life:
1. We need to establish a regular time of prayer.
I really find it a good idea to have a regular prayer time because it’s an assurance not to forget to pray and hear the word of God everyday. Prayer should be one of the “daily bread” in our lives.
2. We need to find a prayer routine that works.
We all have different schedules and we function differently, so it’s very important to find a prayer routine that works well with our situation or circumstance.
As a stay-at-home mom, I find that praying early in the morning works for me. I find it a practical thing to start my prayer time right after I wake up (I have been practicing to wake up at 5am for months now) when the house is still a quiet place. 🙂
Before I started doing this, I missed a LOT of days without praying because I was already very tired at the end of the day.
3. We need to make sure we are listening and responding to God.
It is important to incorporate in our prayer time the word of the Lord by reading a Bible verse or portions of Scripture, so we can listen to God’s words. We can have our own Bible study, listen to priests’ scripture explanations, or join a group to understand more the divine nature of God.
And we have to remind ourselves that mere listening to God’s word is not enough, we have to respond to it by putting the words we hear from Him into action in our christian life.
This is one of my struggles in life because I find it easy to listen to the words of God, but so difficult to put them into action, especially if it clashes with my selfish desires.
4. We need to develop a relationship with God.
It is very important to have a relationship with our Dear Lord and we can only achieve it doing the will of God and by constant prayers.
Just like #3, this one is difficult, too. But we have to keep going and ask God to send us the power of the Holy Spirit to help and guide us.
5. We need to stay positive.
The journey to achieving a disciplined prayer life is going to be tough for sure.
We will surely fall many times due to our sinful nature even in the small things, but we have to remain positive that we can really achieve it one day. It doesn’t matter how many times we fall, as long as we get up and keep going.
And even if we feel that we have a lot of “unanswered prayer” moments, we have to hold on to His precious promises that He will never abandon us and that He will always be with us.
Once we achieve discipline in our prayer life, we set ourselves up for success. We become more focused and connected to God.
Discipline also allows us to stay on track with our prayers and focus on the needs of others than ourselves.
Final Thought on Prayer for Self-Discipline
Achieving self-discipline is difficult, but with persistent prayer and hard work, it can be achieved. And once we achieve it, we have to work harder to maintain it.
Our prayer life as Christians need discipline, too, as it is key to achieving our goals.
